37 Pieces of Flair

Posted by Kevin Hazard, October 2nd, 2006

In the midst of yet another Site5 facelift, we took more creative genius from Office Space, and added a little more character to the site.

STAN: I need to talk about your flair.

JOANNA: Really? I have 15 buttons on. I, uh… (shows him)

STAN: Well, ok, 15 is minimum, ok?

JOANNA: Ok.

STAN: Now, it’s up to you whether or not you want to just do the bare minimum. Well, like Brian, for example, has 37 pieces of flair. And a terrific smile.

JOANNA: Ok. Ok, you want me to wear more?

STAN: Look. Joanna.

JOANNA: Yeah.

STAN: People can get a cheeseburger anywhere, ok? They come to Chotchkie’s for the atmosphere and the attitude. That’s what the flair’s about. It’s about fun.

The same is true in Site5’s case: You can get a cheeseburger anywhere… You come to Site5 for the atmosphere and the attitude. *Note: Site5 has nothing to do with whether or not you currently have a cheeseburger, like cheeseburgers, or have even tried a cheeseburger before, but it has been scientifically proven that you can eat a cheeseburger while picking Site5 as your web host.

I should probably disclaim that we are not actually adding literal pieces of flair to the site before you head to our homepage in search of funny pieces of flair along the lines of this ever-awesome button:

Chuck Button

The “flair” that we added to the site would probably be better seen than described. With all of the changes we make to the site, we lost some of the witty, sometimes-humorous character that Site5 has been known for. Whether it was by adding a few nonsensical replies to our About Us page, or poking fun at ourselves in our own graphics (see below), we feel like we have revived a bit of the Site5 originality that put us in the upper echelon of web hosting creativity and non-boringness.

Infamous domain pointer graphic…

We don’t want to lose any and all shreds of professionalism, but after being in the web hosting market for 8 years, you come to realize that the stuffy “we’re taking ourselves too seriously” approach doesn’t really differentiate you from the market. Site5 has established itself as a high quality, reliable, and trustworthy web host… Now we can also set the standard on how to be an industry leader in anti-pretentiousness.
